We are not doing this alone.
Nobody should.
A garden within a mile is made by many hands, and so is Holon. These are the organizations we work with, what each does, and the ground we share.
Named for the work, not the logo.
A partner appears here when we have worked together and can say on what ground. Each organization is asked to confirm its own description, and a listing comes down within ten business days of a request. No prospects, no conversations, no logos for a check.
Friends of Columbia Tap
A grassroots group working to make the Columbia Tap Trail a linear park and an African American heritage and environmental justice interpretive trail through southeast Houston.
The shared ground: a public corridor and the front yards that face it, one landscape to plant and to keep.
ALMAAHH
Advocates of a Latino Museum of Cultural and Visual Arts and Archive Complex in Houston: a nonprofit founded in 2021 to establish Houston as a national center for American Latino arts and culture, programming now while its East End district takes shape.
The shared ground: Latin American craft and culture as part of how a Houston garden is made and given a public life.
Disclosure: Holon's Executive Director serves on ALMAAHH's board and takes no part in Holon's decisions about this relationship.
Nilus
A nature-based solutions project restoring mountain ecosystems in Chile, building ice reserves with the communities that depend on them.
The shared ground: communities keeping what they restore, in the Chilean mountains and in Houston front yards, and the wish to compare notes.
A listing describes a working relationship during the period shown. It does not imply endorsement by any listed organization or public agency, and each organization may correct or remove its listing at any time. Last reviewed September 2026.
Learn first. Write it down in hours. Keep the record honest.
We ask to learn before we ask for anything
The first meeting is an exchange of notes, not a pitch. We share how we work and what we have, and we ask nothing back until the second meeting.
Hours before paper
When a relationship is ready for an agreement, it names what each side gives and receives, in hours and named work, with a term, a review and a plain way out. Money, if any, travels in its own document.
The record stays honest
We name partners for work that has actually happened, we use each other's marks only as supplied, and we take a listing down within ten business days of a request.
Public bodies sign on their own forms and at their own pace, and we write every page of those agreements as if it will be published.
If your organization shares the mile's work.
Propose a partnership
Tell us who you are and what you already do. We will answer with a time to talk, not a form to fill.
Volunteer
Planting days, mulch runs, the happy heavy lifting, alongside the organizations on this page.
Events
The plant sales, work days and talks around Houston that we and our partners keep on one calendar.
